Addiction Medicine Opportunity, Near Boston, MA
North Shore Physicians Group (NSPG) has an exciting opportunity for a part-time addiction medicine physician to join the largest multi-specialty group practice north of Boston. The position will be based in Lynn, MA. This 100% outpatient position will be 20 hours per week with the potential for full time in the future and will not have any call coverage responsibilities.
The physician will provide services as part of the mobile substance use disorder clinic, or SUD Clinic, and will provide on-site rapid assessment, treatment initiation, and stabilization at primary care clinics across the Partners Healthcare System. This mobile clinic will be staffed by a multidisciplinary team, which includes a physician, a recovery coach, an advanced practice nurse, and will be supported by the embedded social work team. The care model will consist of rapid access to low threshold evaluation and treatment for individuals identified with SUD within primary care practices. Patients will be assessed by the team and a patient-centered treatment plan will be determined. Pharmacotherapy will be initiated promptly for appropriate patients and linkages will be made to the suitable level of care within the community. Patients who cannot directly be connected to ongoing addiction treatment services will be managed by the team on a transitional basis until linkage is successfully achieved.
The physician’s role will be to provide expert addiction consultative care to all patients referred to the team. This will include assessment, diagnosis, determining a treatment plan, withdrawal management, initiating addiction pharmacotherapy, and evaluation/management of SUD-associated medical complications, behaviors and psychopathology. In addition, the physician will provide clinical supervision to the nurse and recovery coach and may provide mentorship to primary care physicians who will continue to treat the patient with medications for addiction treatment.
Candidates must BC/BE in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Adult Psychiatry. Board certification in Addiction Medicine or Addiction Psychiatry preferred. A waiver to prescribe buprenorphine (have a DEA X number) and experience caring for patients with SUD is required.
Interested candidates should forward their CV to Louis Caligiuri, Director of Physician Services at lcaligiuri@partners.org
